I bought a pair of tap dance shoes. I wonder can I wear those shoes to Jazz/latin/ballroom/line dance class? Also what to wear that goes well with the tap dance shoes? Can someone tell me the difference between Jazz, Tap, Latin, Ballroom, Line dance?
Dance shoes and dance wear?
I%26#039;m confused.....tap shoes have taps. how would you dance jazz/Latin/ballroom/line dance in them. also....are you a boy or girl cuz what to ear depends on that.
follow the links to find out about each type of dance

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_dance
Reply:No. Tap Shoes are for Tap Dancing. For Jazz Dance you need to purchase a pair of Jazz Shoes. Ballroom and Latin Dance you would need to purchase a pair of Ballroom Shoes. For line dancing, I believe you would need to purchase a pair of cowgirl boots. I hope that I helped you out.
Reply:NOOO they are TAP shoes...they will take too much noise!! They have taps.you need ballroom shoes, and jazz shoes!
Reply:The taps will not be welcome on the floor of the dance studio. The wear on the wood would be a problem.
Jazz is a presentational dance, like ballet, choreographed and performed with an audience in mind. The others are more social, that is, they%26#039;re danced for the dancers. Line dance is the latest iteration of the set dances, in which all dancers are doing the same steps at the same time. Ballroom is divided into Standard and Latin divisions in the international nomenclature, smooth and rhythm in the American lexicon, but there%26#039;s some slop in the designations. Standard/smooth dances are those like waltz, foxtrot and tango. Latin/rhythm dances are those like rumba and cha cha. In either case, the patterns danced, though they%26#039;re within the framework of the particular dance, are chosen by the leader while dancing, except when choreographed for a show or special circumstance.
Reply:THERE ALL COMPLETLY DIFFERENT!!!
you could never where tap shoes to jazz or anythin but tap!!!
you wear dance clothes with tap shoes, cut tights, tight shirt and kit shorts.

Tap=http://youtube.com/watch?v=-qVt-Y2...
Latin=http://youtube.com/watch?v=lML9d...

Line dance= when in lines and kick couldnt%26#039; find a video.
Reply:tap shoes have metal taps on them. hence the name. you have to wear other shoes for other classes.

Dance shoes...?
I need a dance shoe for a hip hop class but I need it in a size 12 womens. Any help is loved!
Dance shoes...?
omg,
easiest question ever,
go to Discount Dance Supply call 18003287107
or go to discountdance.com and you will find that
almost every hip hop sneaker from %26quot;Dance Now,%26quot; to Capezio,
to Bloch has sizes from 4-14.
and they%26#039;re not expensive.
Reply:im not sure if they have on where you live but you can get any type of dance shoes at Performance Wear. They carry most sizes so i hope this helps =]]
Reply:For hip hop class it usually doesn%26#039;t matter what kind of sneakers you wear, just athletic sneakers. My friend is a professional hip hop dancer and owns 20 pairs of all different colored Adidas sneakers.
If the class requires a specific dance shoe, I assume they want jazz sneakers. For them, they either have to be ordered though a dance catalog/online or bought in a local dance store. Capezio is more expensive, I use Leos. Leos are a lot cheaper and seem to work just as well, but I%26#039;m not sure if they%26#039;re as durable as Capezio. I know Bloch makes jazz sneakers as well.
Reply:Bloch... I think thats it has a pair!
Reply:Bloch has a great line of Dance sneakers.

When you go to your local dance supplier, they may have to order in a shoe in your size. Or it may even have to actually be made.
Hope this helps :)

i am taking a required dance class [im defenatly am not a dancer] and i had to buy dance shoes made out of leather and i am a strong beleiver of no leather or animal products and im a vegetarian but every time i wear them i feel so dirty what should i do
Dance shoes?
think that those shoes which you are wearing is made out of carrot leaves!!!!!!!!!
Reply:What you should have done is buy them used, then give them away afterwards, that way you still aren%26#039;t part of the system, but since that isn%26#039;t an option anymore, you should sell them or give them away when you are done with them. That will be one less pair bought, so you don%26#039;t need to feel so bad :)
And you could be doing a lot worse then that, don%26#039;e feel bad! Veggies Rule.
Reply:Well girl...somehow you coosed the wrong topic...you are here in Food%26amp;Drinks.
You may ask your question in %26quot;Entertainment%26quot;.
If you don%26#039;t like to wear leather shoes because you are a vegetarian...you need to find out if they make plastic shoes...yeiks... or textile shoes.....

why do mens capezio dance shoes have to be 2 sizes larger than their normal shoe size??
Dance shoes?
Most dance shoes run differently than street shoe, it isnt exclusive to capezio. Besides, Capezio brands list UK, Euro, Japan and US sizes so its not really a crisis.
Reply:Its because its a different measuring system like in asia i am size 39 but im also a size 7 ... its just converting it to make it easier

K first off, break dance does NOT INCLUDE GLIDING. That%26#039;s popping. Get your facts right. Second, what kind of fake puma%26#039;s did you get? Puma suede%26#039;s are very durable.
LOL NO RESPONSE? Sorry kid you got owned. ASK ANY REAL BBOY. They%26#039;ll tell you puma suede%26#039;s are the way to go.

i wear socks for dance class but today i almost fell so i was wondering where i could buy some good dance shoes and cheap like payless or some easy stores
Dance shoes?
I agree that if you%26#039;re looking for a pair of good quality shoes that will last you a long time, do not go to payless. For a temporary solution until you can get your hands on a better shoes, get some jazz shoes at Walmart. They%26#039;re cheap and are easy to break them in.
Make sure you do consider buy a good pair of shoes if you plan on staying in dance.
Good luck!
Reply:your dance teacher or one of your fellow dance students will know a good local place to get some.
Reply:ive had that problem before.. and well you can buy some jazz shoes at payless or you can go to discount dance supply.com and order some good ones..
for now you can just fold your socks half way so ur heel is bare you wont fall so much..
:]
Reply:It depends on what type you%26#039;re looking for. I%26#039;m sure your dance instructor can point you to a local place. =)
Reply:My mom is a dance teacher so Payless is a NO!! Ask your dance teacher if she sells them!! If you get the best, you will keep them for so long!! Every year I get a new pair of shoes!! They last for a while!! Good Luck!! Happy Dancing!!
~Lauren~
Reply:No matter what these people say, DO NOT GO TO PAYLESS FOR DANCE SHOES. They are horrible, incredibly cheap, and have very bad quality. If you%26#039;re serious about dance, you could search around in your area for a dance store - they%26#039;ll most likely have whatever you%26#039;ll need in the future, too. And not all decent dance stores carry expensive stuff. ;)
Better quality shoes = less injuries

If I want to buy just one pair of dance shoes for all my dance classes (ballroom, line, latin). What should I get?
Dance shoes?
Go to a dance store. They sell Character Shoes. They are have a two to three inch heal, the toes are covered and there is a band that goes from ankle to ankle. I used to wear them for musicals. They usually come in beige. There are some little dance shops or I would recommend calling a place where they give dance lessons and ask where you can purchase a pair.
Reply:Character Shoes 4 sure!

Reply:Are you a girl or a guy?
If you%26#039;re a girl:
For Ballroom and Latin, it is the best to get Ballroom Practice shoes. I think you will be OK doing line dancing in them too. It looks like this, but look for cheaper price: http://danceshopper.com/ballroom-dance-s... Character shoes are too stiff for ballroom. If you don%26#039;t like the look, social shoes will be OK too (closed toe, moderate heel)
If you%26#039;re a guy: You can%26#039;t really do ballroom in any other shoes than ballroom. I%26#039;ve seen many people try, but all of them eventually switched to Standard low heel ballroom shoes. You can do Latin in them too, and I%26#039;m pretty sure you can do line dancing in them.
Looks like this: http://danceshopper.com/ballroom-dance-s...
Reply:I would get Jazz shoes because they are easy to dance in However if you are taking a Tap class you will need TAP shoes, but you cannot use Tap shoes for Jazz Line danceing Latin or ballroom, for Ballroom i would use charecter shoes just my opinion!!

I just started beginner lessons in Country Two Step and can%26#039;t afford dance shoes just yet. Most shoes now have rubber soles. Is there any other kind of shoe I can wear in the meantime that would be ok without getting me hurt?
Dance shoes?
You can wear any shoes with a leather bottom, and that will help you turn better. Most country boots have a leather bottom, but they can be expensive. You can get character shoes at a dance store or online for around $30 - 35. They have leather bottoms and are good for beginners. Also, try looking on ebay for a pair of used shoes - either character shoes or regular dance shoes (which have a suede bottom).
Reply:Ask your dance teacher and tell him/her the situation (s)he%26#039;ll know best, because (s)he%26#039;ll know what your doing and what level you are at and plus (s)he probably lives at least in your city and will be able to tell you where to get them cheap.
Reply:I use regular nike tmax cross trainers. you can also buy regular sneakers and have felt put on the bottom to prevent sticking.

ok well i need shoes i need dance shoes that are cheep and nice to dance with a need one for balet and one for hip hop
Dance shoes?
New dance shoes for hip hop and ballet? Do you want ballet slippers, or pointe shoes? If you are taking classes, ask your instructor which kind of shoes are prefered. Many teachers have very strict dress codes endorsed and will only allow a certain type/brand of shoe. There are so many styles.
If you are open on your shoe choices I suggest http://www.discountdance.com/, or http://www.dance4less.com/, http://shop.justforkix.com/ or http://www.nydancestore.com/. We have bought from all of these reputable sellers. Or try Ebay.....my daughters prefer leather ballet slippers with a split sole (usually Capezio), and Sansha brand for jazz %26amp; hip hop. Bloch for pointe (Serenade, hard shank), But that is just their choice. Dance shoe sizes can vary from your regular street size shoe. If you order from an online store, I would phone in my order to insure you purchase the correct size needed, as all the dance companies size varies. If you are looking at pointe shoes, I would try them on in a store. It is critical with pointe shoes, that you have a proper fit!
If you will be wearing your shoes only a couple times, you may want to check with a local dance studio, as sometimes they offer used shoes, or girls may post outgrown shoes on a bulletin board in the studio. Hope this helps....Keep Dancing....
Reply:go to discountdance.com. They have a ton of selections for all types of dance shoes. Make sure to ask your dance teacher if she want you to have full or split sole and canvas or leather ballet slippers, and if she wants dance sneakers or jazz shoes.
